Baking Powder is a pocket chord instrument for quickly exploring and playing harmony.
Choose a key and mode, then tap the seven chord bars to play. Customize chords with different qualities, inversions, octave shifts, borrowed harmony, and alterations. Use Hold to keep a chord ringing, and shape the sound with the built-in filter.
Sketch a progression into the built-in loop: drop chords into slots, play it back, and keep playing over the top. Edit the loop while it runs, change key and the chords follow, and copy the finished progression as text, with chord names and notes, to paste anywhere.
Flip to the Lead track to play melodies over your chords: a chromatic grid gently lights the notes that fit — chord tones, scale notes, and where the harmony is headed next — and it tracks both thumbs for trills and fast runs.
Add space and character with six studio effects from Baking Powder for Mac: delay, reverb, chorus, distortion, flanger, and phaser. Chain up to three on each track, balance how much of each you hear, and open any effect full-screen to fine-tune its parameters. Open the Core panel to shape each track's synth — oscillator, unison, detune, width — and balance the two tracks against each other.
The music keeps playing when your screen locks. Simple, immediate, and made for playing.
